What Do Ancient Chinese Judges Have In Common With Golfers on Sunny Days?

When the sun’s shinning, many golfers wear sunglasses. However, you might be surprised why sunglasses were invented in the first place and it had nothing to do with the sun. Sunglasses date back to 12th century China when judges wore smoke-colored dark quartz lenses to conceal their emotions in court. [Editor’s note: It wasn’t until 1929 that sunglasses were officially invented by American Sam Foster on the Boardwalk in Atlantic City, NJ.]
