Masters Update Round 2— Spieth Maintains 5 Shot Lead After Rd 2

WOODS DISPLAYS REMNANTS OF OLD SELF – Finishes Round 2 at -2 under for the tournament making the cut. Who would have ever thought that Tiger making a cut in any tournament would be a big deal! Is this a big deal? “Yes and no,” says golf writer Dan Poppers. “Yes because he has played so pitifully lately.”    “No, because his blemished personal life still follows him. He lied for several years, not once, not twice but a pattern engrained in his persona. In my opinion, he still hasn’t legitimately apologized for what he did. He, in essence, read a script in his pathetic apology after getting caught but, in my opinion, never has authentically apologized. At least, in no venue that I’ve been able to witness. It apparently isn’t in his character to do so. But the opportunity to prove that a Tiger can change his stripes is still available to Woods.”

Spieth in the clubhouse after Round 2 at -14 under. What seemed to be a comfortable lead isn’t so comfortable anymore. Charley Hoffman (-10 thru #15) is only 4 strokes behind and is still on the course; he can cut Spieth’s lead to only 3 or even 2 strokes. Of course, it can go the other way too. Woods apparently will be playing Saturday and Sunday (if his body his body stays in tact). He’s -2 thru hole #16 and probably will finish making the cut.

SPIETH CONTINUES WITH  the lead at -14 (thru hole 16) for the tournament; cool as a cucumber for a 21-year-old.  Can anybody catch Spieth? “No,” predicts feature golf writer Dan Poppers. “Spieth appears fearless and totally in control. Truly in the zone. Unless he totally collapses which is highly unlikely, the is your new Masters champion. I know this is a risky prediction because anything can happen the final two days at the Masters. But I will stick with this prediction. No catching Spieth.” UPDATE: “Ooopss,” says Poppers. “Here comes Charley Hoffman.”
