Body found in burning car at golf course

One person was found dead Sunday (Apr 26, 2015)) after firefighters were sent to a golf course in Prince George’s County, Maryland, where a car was on fire, the county fire department reported.

Police reported that the D.C. man who died in the car fire on a Maryland golf course was trying to free the vehicle from the mud. 70-year-old Frank Andrew Bartee of northeast Washington became stuck in the mud on a golf course in Prince George’s County early Sunday.Police say a groundskeeper at the Enterprise Golf Course in Bowie called about the burning car around 5 a.m. Sunday.Authorities say Bartee’s car engine caught fire as he worked to free the car. He suffered severe burns and was pronounced dead at the scene.Detectives are not sure why Bartee drove onto the course.

The incident was unrelated to the riot violence 30 miles away in Baltimore.
